Hastelloy C-22 Flanges Features

Hastealloy C-22 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy with tungsten that offers excellent resistance to oxidizing and reducing media. The C-22 grade is known to handle high temperatures, up to 1250°F (677°C). The Hastelloy C-22 Flanges are often used in high-risk environments where strong acids like hydrochloric and sulfuric acid are present. Hastelloy C-276 Flanges Corrosion Resistance

Hastelloy C-276, a nickel-molybdenum-chromium alloy accompanied by tungsten, provides exceptional resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress corrosion cracking. The C-276 alloy is resistant to chlorine, chloride, and sulfuric acid up to 2000°F (1093°C). Due to its corrosion-resistant properties, these flanges are usually used in the chemical, pulp and paper, waste treatment, and flue gas desulfurization industries.

Hastelloy C-22 Flanges Chemical Composition

Hastelloy C-22 composition includes Nickel (Ni), Chromium (Cr), Molybdenum (Mo), and Tungsten (W), along with small amounts of iron, carbon, and silicon. The nickel and molybdenum content makes C-22 resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion, while tungsten provides high-temperature strength. The C-22 flanges’ chemical composition is also known to offer resistance to both organic and inorganic acids.

Hastelloy C-276 Flanges Machining

Hastelloy C-276 flanges may be difficult to machine due to their high strength and work hardening but can be achieved with the right machining techniques. Oil-based coolants, slow speeds, and heavy feed conditions are suggested while machining C-276 flanges. Applying positive rake-cutting tools with a larger relief angle may improve the quality of the machined surface. Using carbide-tipped tools with proper cutting-edge preparation could help achieve optimal results.
