Inconel 800 Fasteners Chemical Composition

The chemical composition of Inconel 800 fasteners includes 21-23% chromium, 30-35% nickel, 3-4% aluminium, and small amounts of iron, titanium, and carbon. The added aluminium content gives the alloy excellent oxidation resistance, while chromium and nickel provide superior corrosion resistance. Inconel 800 has good mechanical properties, including high tensile strength and excellent creep and rupture strength.

Inconel 825 Fasteners Machining

One of the challenges of using nickel alloys like Inconel 825 is its difficulty in machining. The high nickel content makes it tougher and gummier than other metals, leading to tool wear, chatter, and surface roughness. Machining Inconel 825 requires specialized cutting tools, like carbide inserts, and careful cutting parameters that minimize heat buildup and reduce tool wear. Using a coolant to lubricate the cutting action and remove the chips efficiently is also important.
