Manufacturing Process Of SS 303 Rods

We at Nexora Metal ensure that our SS 303 rods are manufactured using controlled thermal and mechanical procedures to provide strength and a flawless finish. The process begins with melting stainless scrap and alloy metals in an electric arc furnace heated above 2800°F. The molten steel is then polished using AOD or VOD to control carbon and sulfur levels, which results in improved machinability. The refined metal is cast into billets and heated to 2000°F to 2200°F for hot rolling to make long rods. For closer size tolerance and a bright surface, cold drawing is carried out at room temperature. The rods are then annealed at 1900°F to 2050°F and rapidly quenched to relieve stress and maintain corrosion resistance. Descaling removes surface scale formed during rolling. Final cutting and machining bring each SS 303 rod to the required size and finish.
